This is a fun piece for two violas, playing the same part, but with one player starting one bar after the other player. There are two separate printed parts, plus a score with both parts. It is by Domenico Gabrielli, an Italian composer and cello virtuoso, who was born in Bologna in1651. He became widely known as a cello virtuoso and composer of vocal music. He wrote 12 operas in the 1680s, but he contracted an incurable disease and died in Bologna in July 1690.
