Description

Duration - 17'

for soprano and string quartet (2021)

St. Augustine of Hippo wrote Confessions , an autobiographical work of his coming to faith. in short, he spent his youth in rebellion and turmoil, searching for peace. It was not until he was much older that he converted to Christianity, finding the peace that he had been searching for his whole life.

This three-movement work is my personal perspective and music narrative of St. Augustine's life. The first movement is tumultuous and volatile with fleeting senses of peace. The second movement follows with oppressive heaviness and a lowering of self towards humility, leading to the third movement where peace – and the voice – finally arrive.
