Description
LAUDO is a cantata for mezzo-soprano and organ, based on the text Gratiarum actiones pro Dei beneficiis by Saint Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274), which may be rendered in English as Thanksgiving for God's Blessings. Composed in commemoration of the 750th anniversary of the saint's passing in 2024, this work is distinguished by an expanded tonal harmonic language enriched by the use of natural modes, chromaticism, and enharmonic modulation. The melodic line employs a syllabic declamation for greater clarity of text, while numerous figurations throughout the work express gratitude and praise.
