Orchestration Strings (Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello, Double Bass)
It seems that Elgar wrote this short, peaceful elegy as a personal tribute to his friend August Jaeger of the music publishers Novello, ("Nimrod" of the Enigma Variations) who died in 1909 at the age of 49, after a long illness. This edition is as Elgar composed it, save for some Minor editorial tidying-up. Duration: 3 minutes
Contains one full score, and a set of string parts 4/4/3/4/2.
