Description

Inspired by the bawdy humor and social inversion of the medieval era, A Feast of Fools is a three-movement celebration of historical irreverence. The work breathes life into the mischievous margins of monastic manuscripts with a restless ostinato, before transitioning into a playful, oxymoronic harp serenade based on a 15th-century song by Gilles Binchois. Concluding with a raucous "nose-dance" that parodies sacred choral music in favor of a drunken ode to wine, the piece serves as a lively reminder that humanity's penchant for absurdity remains unchanged across the centuries.
