    Description

This is a revised edition from 1964 which was edited by Diethard Hellman. It is a reconstruction of the St. Mark Passion based on parody models, with a new foreword by Andreas Glöckner on the current state of research with regard to this work. The edition now includes all 16 chorales which have survived. This edition serves both musical performance and also treats the subject of the history of the transmission of the Passion.

Note for performance: The present version contains no setting of the Gospel narrative since this was not handed down by Bach. Therefore the Gospel text should be spoken.
