    Description

Ferdinand Ries was born in Bonn (Germany) in 1784 (he was baptized on November 28th). He moved to Vienna in 1803, where he became secretary, copyist, and great friend to Beethoven (who had studied with Ries' father in Bonn). He never lost touch with Beethoven, despite living in Paris and London (where he spent 11 years, married, and also had a role in the publication of many of Beethoven's works). His own output includes eight symphonies, chamber works, and piano concertos (Ries was a concert pianist who played all over Europe). Ferdinand Ries died on January 13th, 1838, in Aachen (Germany).
