  • "Dein Wort ist meines Fußes Leuchte" (Carl Johann Philipp Spitta)
  • Stimme aus dem Jenseits (Luise Hensel)
  • Am heiligen Grabe (Friedrich Spee von Langenfeld)
  • Aus der Pilgerfahrt am Felix-Tage (Therese von Niemeyer)
  • Ostern (Heinrich von Bogatzky)

Josephine Lang's years in Tübingen initially unfolded quite happily. However, from the 1850s onwards, a series of misfortunes began to accumulate. Against this backdrop, it seems that she found and sought solace in setting sacred poems to music. The diversity of her songs is striking due to their wide range of moods and styles. Meditative, sorrowful, and consoling hymns stand alongside uplifting, optimistic, and even joyful songs. There are compositions reminiscent of Bach's Schemel, choral-like in nature, as well as rhapsodic art songs with intricately developed piano accompaniments. A musical treasure and a strong addition to the repertoire – not only for church services and sacred concerts!
