Description

Bax's perennial masterpiece, Tintagel, was written in 1917-1919 following a visit to the hallowed Cornish seaside town with his muse, Harriet Cohen. There he found much to connect himself to Wagner's Cornish drama, Tristan and Isolde, and perhaps less with the Arthurian legend than we think nowadays.

This edition looks back to the handwritten manuscript and to some of the details lost in the Murdoch edition of 1923. This is the first edition in over a hundred years, and has been performed by Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and the English Symphony Orchestra.
