Sustainable Shipping at Ficks Music
We ship sheet music and rental materials to individual customers, orchestras, ensembles, and academic institutions all around the world. Shipping has an environmental cost, and we've made a few concrete choices to reduce ours.
Carbon Reduction & Insetting Through DHL GoGreen Plus
Ficks Music is enrolled in DHL's GoGreen Plus program. This means that for every applicable shipment, we pay an additional "Reduced Carbon Fee", which DHL applies toward reducing the emissions generated in transit, mainly through Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). It's a modest step, but it's one we take on every shipment that qualifies, not just occasionally.
Our Mailers
Most of our sheet music orders go out in mailers made from 75% recycled paper fibers, including 65% post-consumer content. These mailers are:

Reusable — sturdy enough to be used again for a return shipment or other mailing

Recyclable — accepted with mixed paper in standard recycling programs
Our Boxes
For larger orders, such as full sets of orchestral rental parts, we ship in boxes that are 40% made from recycled materials.
Why We're Sharing This
We're not claiming to be a zero-waste operation, and we don't think small steps deserve a victory lap. But packaging and shipping decisions add up, and we think our customers should know where we stand. Moreover, our sustainability initiatives do not end here - we're always looking for better and more sustainable solutions to improve our operations.
