radial monochrome for saxophone quartet explores shifting textures and timbral gradients within a tightly woven ensemble fabric. As its title suggests, radial monochrome emerges from a singular sonic palette, expanding and contracting like concentric waves—revealing subtle variations in tone, color, density, and resonance. The work begins with all four performers playing tenor saxophones, creating a unified sonic body from which the quartet gradually unfolds into the traditional SATB configuration. Through this transformation, the ensemble moves between states of sonic stasis and gradual metamorphosis, creating a zoom-like perception of sound in which microscopic details expand into large-scale sonic formations.
