Description

"Melancholy, conflict, fear and hope, the struggle against life itself, and as a backdrop, a family saga centered around Macondo..." To give shape to this entire imagined reality, in the manner of a universal novel, is something only the most brilliant minds are capable of achieving. To bring to life one of the masterpieces of Spanish-language literature through the deep and nostalgic sound of the guitar is something only a sensitive soul can materialize.

One Hundred Years of Solitude needs little introduction. The text by Colombian author Gabriel García Márquez, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1982, belongs to the select group of essential works of international literature. Deeply moved by the novel's narrative, Mexican guitarist Mauricio Díaz Álvarez intends to pay homage to García Márquez through this musical composition, thanks to his exquisite musical sense and profound knowledge of his instrument.

The rhythmic ostinato serves as the composition's guiding thread, as if conveying a sense of resignation. It fills the time of Macondo, which merges with surprising modulations and vibrant colors in the musical discourse, creating a tense calm, an atmosphere that culminates in a deafening silence. A silence like the stifled breath of a Latin land tearing itself apart in a perpetual cauldron, where time is eternally suspended.
