Description

Treating real animals and fictitious creatures on equal footing, medieval bestiaries usually mixed zoology and mythology.

"The Lost Bestiary" for violin and cello combines these two categories and pays a tribute to recently extinct species, highlighting a few animals to speak for hundreds of others that disappear every day, and the list is growing...

The piece is also a little nod to Francis Poulenc's own subtle and witty "Bestiaire" for voice ans piano.

These short pieces may be performed, some or all, in any order.The title of each miniature could be announced before its performance.
