Description

"We have chosen to present two versions of this score: one version for flute and harp, which is faithful to Ravi Shankar's manuscript, and this version, for flute and guitar as arranged by Valade and Aussel. This version bas been enhanced with various indications based on the choices Roberto Aussel and I have made in interpreting this piece. Musicians who wish conscientiously to consult the composer's manuscript can turn to the edition for flute and harp (25047). They may then develop their own interpretations based on that version, and may or may not choose to draw inspiration from the present version for flute and guitar. in both editions, the accidentals have been scrupulously noted measure by measure so as not to clutter the text excessive, as the modal structure of the text does not create any ambiguity on this point."
