The two of us performed the premiere in 2007 at Bennington College. I had the impulse to arrange it for Violin and Piano the next year. This resulted in a much expanded and more virtuosic version of the solo part, and an enrichment of the piano part. The playful outer movements frame a somber and mysterious central movement. Despite the angularity of the writing, this is a piece with an entertaining, sophisticated and stylized personality. Since the Tango ends with a bang, some performers have chosen to reverse the first and last movements.
