This tape is available from the Boosey \u0026amp; Hawkes rental library. Alternately, the piece can be played by a Cello Octet. (There are differences in distribution of parts between the two versions.) The piece is in three movements: fast, slow, fast. The first and last movements are both based on a similar four-chord cycle that moves ambiguously back and forth betwein in C Minor and E-flat Major. This harmonic cycle is treated extremely freely however, particularly in the third movement. The second, slow movement, is a canon in E-flat Minor involving, near the end of the movement, seven separate voices. The piece is a little more than 11 minutes in duration, and was co-commissioned by the Koussevitzky Foundation in the Library of Congress, the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and Leiden University, for cellist Maya Beiser.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003c\/div\u003e \u003c\/div\u003e","brand":"Boosey \u0026 Hawkes","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":39620099014735,"sku":"M051214334","price":19.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0900\/1828\/files\/7e45ea86f8b77aeb5c812e6d8a07b8bd.jpg?v=1780010538","url":"https:\/\/www.ficksmusic.com\/zh\/products\/reich-cello-counterpoint-boosey-1","provider":"Ficks Music","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
