After organizing the material for the piece, I wrote a melody that works against, underneath, and above Tallis's lines to create counterpoint made of old and new elements. Patterns of aggressive woodwind scales and ornaments evoke some of the hysteria inherent in glossolalia (ecstatic speaking in tongues). The central section of the piece gestures towards an insect-like musical and religious fervor.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003c\/div\u003e \u003c\/div\u003e","brand":"St. Rose Music Publishing","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":43535967780943,"sku":"SRO100159","price":23.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0900\/1828\/files\/57210645bbe9c346182b9bde09d1bb1a.jpg?v=1755886499","url":"https:\/\/www.ficksmusic.com\/zh\/products\/muhly-so-to-speak-rose","provider":"Ficks Music","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
