Kay favored neoclassical tendencies in his works, featuring lyricism, contrapuntal textures, clear formal designs and a tonal, yet chromatic harmonic vocabulary, all of which are evident in his Two Impromptus from 1986. The two impromptus are contrasting, the first beginning with a moody, angular adagio and maintaining its meditative state throughout. The second is faster, beginning with a flowing allegretto, with a quasi-tonal harmonic sensibility that is characteristic of Kay's particular brand of neo-classicism, and a beautiful, lyrical melody that begs to be sung. The pieces could be performed just as well separately as together. for the intermediate to advanced pianist.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003c\/div\u003e \u003c\/div\u003e","brand":"Carl Fischer","offers":[{"title":"Printed Edition","offer_id":40602491125839,"sku":"P3335","price":15.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"Digital Download","offer_id":45247505825871,"sku":"P3335D-PDF","price":15.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0900\/1828\/files\/0f0de44e0d58694b25b2bc39ff893e18.jpg?v=1749559468","url":"https:\/\/www.ficksmusic.com\/zh\/products\/kay-2-impromptus-fischer","provider":"Ficks Music","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
