Through my studies with them in high school, I was introduced to the études of Gaviniès, Rode, the Paganini Caprices, and other foundational works of the violin repertoire.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSubtitled \u003cem\u003eThe White Rabbit,\u003c\/em\u003e the piece reflects a stream-of-consciousness flow of musical ideas and contrasts two distinct moods: one searching, expressive, and exposed; the other fiery and playful. It is my hope that, beyond its commissioning for the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, violinists will continue to discover new interpretations of the work and engage with its technical language as a valuable pedagogical tool.
