Description

Amazing Grace was composed for pianist Galit Gertsenzon as a delicate reflection on one of America's most widely known hymns—yet one still capable of revealing new depths. Though it often stands alone in performance, the piece was originally intended as a prelude to Handel's Suite in F Major, seamlessly melding into the suite's first movement.

Each verse unfolds in a distinct musical style: from the warmth and subtle fluidity of Black gospel, to gentle playfulness, to a multi-voice canon that evokes a bolder sense of affirmation. The work concludes as it began—with the melody sustained in a single voice, expressed in a way that feels intimate and restrained, almost internal, like a tune quietly remembered rather than outwardly performed.
