Description

The Officium vespertinum from 1648 consists of twenty-two pieces. This is the last volume of the first modern edition of Michna's recently completed and listed cycle of sacred pieces devoted to the honour of St Mary. It contains two different versions of the Magnificat canticum, the Marian antiphons Alma Redemptoris Mater, Ave Regina caelorum, Regina caeli laetare, Salve Regina, Sub tuum praesidium and the Loretan litany. in the end are attached Falsi bordoni for a possible recitation of psalms which do not have a musical version in the preceding psalm volumes.

The scores include the mixed choir, the solo voice, the original figured bass and a modern suggestion of its realization. Instruments can be added ad libitum according to the period performance practice.

The edition, including the basso continuo part was prepared for publication by Vratislav Belsky, the author of the foreword is Jiri Sehnal.
