This is a folk song that is known in many different countries, not just the Nordic region. We know it as a Swedish melody and the title, Ack Värmeland, du Sköna (Oh Värmland, you beautiful), was given in the 19th century in celebration of the beauty of the Värmland region. The Danish String Quartet is a classical string quartet with a passion for Nordic folk music. They've brought their unique arrangements of Scandinavian folk tunes to the concert stage and recorded them on a highly successful CD.
