Sébastien Llinares had asked me to perform a piece of about six minutes on the show. I then realized that I didn't have a work of that length that truly represented me. I wanted a piece of music that would reflect who I am today: a natural blend of my two cultures.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe piece takes the form of a chaconne, while incorporating complex rhythms and modes drawn from the Bulgarian tradition.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOver time, I have begun to gain some distance from my work. What I now seek is a form of natural simplicity, despite rhythmic or modal complexity.
