The composer wrote for a variety of instrumentations and his works remain popular to this day, Stops for Oboe and Piano being no exception. Composed in 1922, Stops is suitable for advanced level oboists. Ibert was a unique composer who did not associate himself with any particular style. His music is generally lighthearted, often reflecting the composer's wit and humour. Containing a variety of musical aspects and techniques, and being significantly very rhythmic, Ibert's Stops is an exciting addition to the advanced oboe repertoire.

Composer: Jacques Ibert (1890-1962)

Format: Study Score

Instrumentation: Orchestra

Work: Escales ("Ports of Call") (1922)

Binding:

ISMN: 9790046167867

Size: 6.3 x 8.3 inches

Pages: None

Description

This edition of Ports of Call by Jacques Ibert, features the scores for the whole orchestra. Its three movements are Rome-Palermo, which conjures southern Italy with tarantella rhythms; Tunis-Nefta, which quotes a folk tune the composer heard in the Tunisian desert, and the Spanish music-inspired Valencia. Written during his residency after winning the Prix de Rome, ESCALES remains one of Ibert's most performed pieces today. It premiered in Paris in January 1924.
