Description
Jean Sibelius composed the Impromptu, Op. 19 in early 1902 for a portrait concert which he personally conducted in Helsinki.
After the publication of the choral score, he revised the work in spring 1910. The first edition of the piano-vocal score presented here contained, apart from the original Swedish text, a singable translation in German and English. Performances of the work with piano accompaniment were expressly allowed by Sibelius.
