Description
Saltatio ad Lumen (Dance to the Light) is the title of the 14-minute Piano Sonata No. 2 by Erkki-Sven Tüür. "In a way, this work is a bridge between the person I was in the past - a young composer at the beginning of his journey - and the person I am today", says Erkki-Sven Tüür. The music flows as if it were improvised but follows vectorial principles on which his compositions have been based for some years.
The work was commissioned by the Estonian Music Days 2022 and premiered on 19 April 2022 at the Arvo Pärt Centre, Laulasmaa (Estonia) by Irina Zahharenkova.
