It is based on fragments from the ten most performed piano concertos from previous finals of the Hamamatsu Competition including concertos by Tchaikovsky, Liszt, Mozart, Prokofiev and Rachmaninoff. Each fragment is limited to material in which the two hands form a single idiom, and therefore not necessarily the most famous parts of each piece, as they do not contain any structure of melody and accompaniment or any contrapuntal content.
